Testimonials from Families
“We felt surrounded by family”
When it comes to what distinguishes Columbia Cottage from other alternative settings, our families say it best. Here are a few of their comments:
Special thanks for graciously accepting our questions and needs … You have exceeded our expectations in providing great quality of life and care for mother! Also thank you for the generous way you share your time and talents with others. Thank you. – The B Family
My father was a resident at Columbia Cottage and I feel the need to write a letter to express my sincere gratitude regarding the staff at Columbia Cottage. My father had been a resident at Columbia Cottage since August 2013 after shattering his hip and he could no longer remain safely at home. The situation was more challenging as my mother (his wife of 66 years) was suffering from Alzheimer’s and had been placed in a memory care unit some months prior to the fall. My father’s wish was that they could be placed together. Columbia Cottage was an answer to his prayers as they took both my father and mother. It was a joy to see them together.
For everything you’ve done … for being the special people that you are … thank you so very much. No words can adequately express my appreciation for all that you do and how wonderfully you do it. I have tried to thank as many of you as I can personally, but rarely see evening and night staff … so to everyone a huge THANK YOU. You are the best! – Barb
On behalf of my family, I want to thank you and your staff for the care and support provided for my mother and our family during a difficult time the past few weeks.
We are extremely grateful for the care and concern your staff provided to all of us. I am sure I will miss someone on this list, but want to say a special thank you to those who went above and beyond what would be normally expected of them. We are especially grateful to both Danielle’s, Sue, Annie, Molly, both Katie’s, Trish, Missy, Donna, Lynne, Kimmie, Sharon and Steph.
Your staff members are a great asset to your organization. Thanks again for everything.
Thank you for all you did for Bill while he lived at Columbia Cottage. He loved all of you and enjoyed living there (once he got as much as possible that he wanted in his room!!!). Thank you for your kindness and patience towards Bill. We also appreciate your support and kindness to our family. – Martin & Carolyn
So very pleased my brother and mom choose Columbia Cottage. Such a warm relaxing atmosphere! Thank you!
I would like to take this opportunity to express my most sincere thank you for the wonderful card sent to me by everyone at Columbia Cottages regarding the passing of my mother. I have often said in the past that with every contact with everyone at Columbia I have been treated not only with complete professionalism but also with a personal friendliness that I can only say was most exceptional. I cannot imagine any higher level of confidence than I could have that my mother received the best care and concern that could possibly be provided. I congratulate all the people at Columbia Cottages for the pride in the important work they do. Aaron, Anne, April, Emily, Kyrsten, Laurie, Vickie and everyone. My special thanks to Deena and Danyelle also.
I would appreciate passing along my message to the appropriate management in your organization. Thank You. – Russ
As fate would have it, my father’s health declined and he passed away. The staff at Columbia Cottage was amazing. I will name Trish, Katie and of particular recognition, Linda. There were others of course and they all know who they are—ones that provided the most compassionate care I have ever seen. But Linda was my rock. She stayed with me all night—even coming off a shift of her own. We took that journey together holding my dad’s hands, speaking to him in quiet voices all the way to the end. I don’t think I could have done it without Linda. I told everyone there that I thought I was surrounded by family—the bond was unbelievable. (Katie even came in on her own accord in the middle of the night to be with dad.)
The concern for my mother who lay in her bed not far from my dad was just as strong. I am writing this with sincere gratitude. I thought that everyone should know that the staff at Columbia Cottage is without a doubt the most caring, compassionate caregivers I have ever known. My mother continues to reside at Columbia Cottage and I have no doubt that she will be taken care of in a loving compassionate manner. This certainly gives me peace and will help with closure with my dad, because I promised him that mom would be okay and well cared for.
Thank you again for the wonderful care of my dad. I am forwarding a copy to the managing director so that I know all the staff will be informed and thanked from the bottom of my heart as well as from the rest of our family. With Sincere Regards, Cindy
Dearest Cottage Friends,
All of you have become like family to me. Just wanted to say a million “thank you’s” for all that you did for mom these last six years. It has really meant a lot to me and I appreciate everything. It was nice to know that she was being cared for after I couldn’t do it anymore.
Also thank you so very much for all the meals and snacks (at 3:00 in the morning) for Heidi and me. The food (meals) was great and the cookies and snacks were to die for. (Don’t tell my doctor I cheated!!) Thank you for all the love and respect given to all of us. Mom really loved all of you and so do Heidi and I. One more time, THANK YOU!!
Appreciated the visits for her viewing and funeral also! Many cards – thank you. Sincerely – Nancy
There aren’t enough words to express how deeply appreciative I am of the love and care you showed my mother, Milly. She loved each and every one of you, and though my visits were few, I saw that love!
Thank you for being there. Lori
Dearest Cottage Friends,
Thank you so much for all you are doing for my parents. I know it’s not an easy job. Columbia Cottage is a beautiful place and I’m so glad my stepdad is there. I really appreciate the heart you have for the older generation and wish you all the best in your work. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help with Bob’s care. Best regards – Bonnie
I am taking this opportunity first, to thank you for the care and attention you gave my mom, Lucy. With your time, patience and all the TLC that was shared with her, her stay at the Cottage developed into her home. And I always had positive feelings when I visited. Mom will miss you and wishes all a grand summer! Please tell Pearly we said hi.
It’s been over two weeks since we moved and she’s been a real trooper. The transition has been better than expected. She’s participating in activities, especially Bingo. Hopefully by the end of the month she’ll be in the swing of her new home.
You make the Cottage what it is and for that I am thankful. God bless all of you. – Sharon
It was all the little extra touches which made the transition less difficult.
Mom and our family were also made to feel a part of the Columbia Cottage family. Your team became a big part of our lives.
My last conversation with my mom was Friday night. Prior to saying goodbye mom stated, “Judy, I am truly happy here this is my new home.”
The end came much sooner than we had expected, but your team were there to guide us through – for which we will be eternally grateful. Thank you once again.
Judy, Karen, & family
